GOVERNMENT HOUSE.
HONGKONG. 26th.May, 1916.
I have the honour to recommend that Mr. A. E.
Wright, Executive Engineer in charge of Buildings Ordinance Work in the Public Works Department, who has 13 years service and was appointed to his present grade of 2nd. Grade Executive Engineer in 1911 and who was allowed under the authority of Mr. Harcourt's,
Sovr Despatch No. 57 of the 1st. of March, 1912, to draw the maximum-83> salory of his grade (£450 to £540 by £30 triennially), be promoted
to lat. Grade Executive Engineer (£570
as from the 1st. of January, 1917.
-
£630 by £30 triennially)
The Buildings Ordinance Branch is one of the most important sub-departments in the Public Works Department and in addition to high professional qualifications and much industry and accuracy the officer in charge of it has to bring to the dis- -charge of his duties firmness of character combined with tact and good address in dealing with local engineers and architects and the public. These qualifications Mr. Wright possesses. He has given great satisfaction in the performance of his duties and is a very capable and conscientious hardworking officer.
I should therefore be glad to recognise his
merit in the matter indicated.
2.
Mr. D. Jeffé is senior in the service and in
the grade of 2nd. Grade Executive Engineers to Mr. Wright. But Mr.
